Anita Watts News & Events
Welcome to my website...stay awhile and enjoy yourself!
July, 2007 ~ Anita will begin a life-size sculpture of “Coco”, a very special Golden Retriever, belonging to the family of Dave and Hiya Hoffman of Plano, Texas, which is just north of Dallas. “Coco” does every thing from water skiing to snow skiing, (really?… ? …) and Anita will portray his wonderful personality in a free standing bronze sculpture to be installed outdoors in the Hoffman’s yard.
June, 2007 ~ Anita will be completing her work on a Bronze Memorial Plaque for Gene “Duke” Ellington, an outstanding educator who served as a teacher, coach, and principal from 1947 to 1980. The Bronze Plaque will be installed in a garden area outside the new high school and will be dedicated at the opening of the new school year this fall. Watch for an announcement of this event.
June, 2007 ~ Anita has just completed her work on the Humane Pet Center Sculpture and the sculpture is now at Art Castings of Colorado being cast into bronze. The sculpture consists of multiple life-sized figures of a girl with three kittens, a boy with three puppies, and a Golden Retriever overseeing the group. This sculpture will be installed outdoors on a rocky landscaped area in front of the new Humane Pet Center on US 127 S. at the south edge of Eaton, Ohio. The installation and unveiling ceremony is planned for late October. Watch for time and date here! After the event photos of the finished sculpture will be posted under “Sculpture Installations” on this website.
Anita’s hand painted dog, “Heritage”, was sold by Silent Auction at the “Art on Main”
event, raising $975.00 for the Preble County Animal Shelter’s new building.
| The need for a new Animal Shelter in Preble County is great. The land has been secured
and funds are being raised and the building is almost completed. In the next few weeks "Preble Pooches", which are 31" high bisque fired ceramic dogs, hand-painted by local artists, will be sold at auction with all proceeds going to the fund for the new Animal Shelter. |
| Anita's dog is titled, "Heritage", and is painted in warm 'wolf grays' with rich textures in the lines of the dog's coat. Hidden in the dog's long hair are numerous wolves, running, hunting, howling, or sitting. Anita used a special phosphorescent paint for the eyes that will cause them to glow at night after the lights go out. "Heritage" is signed and dated and is an original painted ceramic sculpture. |
